250 years ago a man named Pegasus J. Crawford created a card game based on ancient Egyptian carvings and hieroglyphs. Though records of these carvings have been tracked back to 8000 B.C. this card game had dark secrets. When people use these cards they develop a form of energy inside their soul which can draw out special powers. Through the history of Duel Monsters, as the card game is called, there were legendary duelists who could perform miracles with this energy. Through decades there have been numerous legendary duelists. They all had one thing in common: defeat the darkness that threatens the world. As time moved on legendary duelists appeared more frequently than in the past and so did the evil

Our story begins in the year 2274 with a woman, a duelist. Elizabeth Eldi. Also known as El among friends. She works as an engineer alongside her father and with her quick understanding of things led to her making her own personal duel disk at the age of 18 which she always uses, even up to this day.

“Go! Overdrive Teleporter! Attack Hotaru's Photon Star Sleipnir” “Not so fast! I have a trap card: Call of the Haunted! I bring back my Azure Dragon from my graveyard!” “I continue the attack on your Sleipnir!” El's Overdrive Teleporter destroys Hotaru's Photon Star Sleipnir setting his life points down to 1400. “I end my turn.” stated El.

“Back to me then, I draw! I summon Photon Star Fairy in attack mode and then I play Photon Cluster of Wishes. This spell card lets me add one Photon Star effect monster to my hand and then I play my Fairy's effect. By switching her to defense I can summon the effect monster I just added! I summon Photon Star Crystal Dragon! Time for the final show! Be ready my love because this is my victory!” El could clearly see that Hotaru had fun. Although she loses this duel she is happy to know this could bring a smile to Hotaru's face as he is under much stress because of his job. “Activate trap card: Photon Cluster Seal! By sacrificing both of my Gemini monsters, Crystal Dragon and Azure Dragon, I can summon my ace... my avatar! I call forth Photon Star Dragon!” a majestic blue dragon appeared beside Hotaru, showing 2500 attack points. “I then play the second effect of my Photon Cluster Seal. I can choose to destroy one card on the field times the number of Photon Star Dragons I have! I destroy your only Set card El!” Hotaru's Cluster Seal destroyed El's set Mirror Force. “Prepare yourself. Go my dragon! Attack El directly!” Photon Star Dragon charged up a light-blue beam in its mouth and fired it all at once towards El. Setting her life points down to zero.

“You were close to take the round.” Hotaru said smiling after their duel. El drew the next card from her deck, it was Assault Mode Activate. “Who knows? Maybe you can beat me in the next one? Oh I almost forgot! Do you want to go on a field trip with me later this weekend?” asked Hotaru. “Of course I would!” she always enjoyed nature and getting away once in a while with Hotaru is relaxing. Hotaru is Elizabeth's lover. Years back El got tickets to a Pro League tournament and she saw Hotaru duel on the field. After the tournament they had arranged a signature booth where fans could get a signature from the pros. As El approached Hotaru the sparks flew and not long after them both got together.

The weekend approached and El psyched herself up. It had been over two months since last time they went out, she could not wait! The day came and El made sure everything was ready while waiting for Hotaru to come home. After a few hours he opened the door. “Are you re-” Hotaru stopped suddenly after he saw everything El had packed for the trip. “I see you haven't wasted any time.” he laughed. “I could barely sleep. It has been such a long time since our last trip together.” They got everything in the car and drove to their favorite mountain. While on the road El looked out the window she noticed a weak reflection of something for a second. She couldn't tell exactly what it was but it had a dark glow to it and had the form of a human. Was it a hologram? El didn't want to bother Hotaru about it but whatever it was made her uneasy. After parking the car at the foot of the mountain they followed a trail to their favorite spot. The sun shined between the trees in the thick forest. It looked like something right out of a fairytale. Hotaru got their stuff out of their bags and sat down. El looked up and took a deep breath in the fresh air. “It is nice to get out once a while.” said Hotaru. “Remember how long it took to find this place first time we went here?” “Sure do. You even fell in a creek. Getting all wet and you complained constantly.” Hotaru teased. “I stumbled in a rock when I tried to keep up with you!” After breathing in the fresh air and eating El laid her head on Hotaru's lap as the sun shined brightly on her face. Hotaru stroke El's hair and the sun shined brightly on her. She fell asleep at a moment's notice.

When El opened her eyes she found herself standing in an unknown place. “Hotaru?!” she yelled. This had to be of course a dream El though to herself. Around her a forest burned and the sky was red. “What a bizarre dream...” a voice whispered to El. “Who's there?” El asked and turned around but there was no one in sight. “Peekaboo.” the voice said. It sounded like an adult but yet something made her think of a kid. “Over here!” the voice yelled. El turned around and saw a shadow standing in front of the burning forest. “Who are you... or what are you?” El asked the shadowy figure. “I am who I am, who else?” the figure replied. El didn't know what to say. This is her dream but this dream was unlike any other. “I mean it. Who are you?” El asked a second time. “Well... I won't give you my name... but I will tell you why I'm here. I'm here to recruit you to a cause. A good cause or bad.” it giggled. “A cause? What cause?” El was really confused and a little bit irritated. “You're familiar with what you humans call the Legendary Duelists, right?” the figure asked her. “Humans? So you’re not a human then.” El mumbled. “Yes. I know what a Legendary Duelists.” she answered. “What if I tell you that you’re not one?” “I know I'm not a legendary duelist. There are already plenty of them out there!” El started to get annoyed from this person, or thing. “What if I tell you that you possesses something no other human does? And that we need you for that exact reason?” when that thing said that to El she got surprised, really surprised. “Is this really a dream?” El asked herself that, many times. Before El could say another word she blackout out just to wake up on Hotaru's lap. “You're sweating like crazy!” Hotaru said when El came to. “Y-yeah... I-I just had a strange dream. That's all.” she replied. Was that really a dream? Or was that actually real? El had no clue on what was going on but she knew that it was over now... or is it?

The next couple of days El started having a dream about a city burning and people screaming. Hotaru was worried as he could see that the dream was troubling her, badly. As weeks passed El developed insomnia. It came to the one point where it was so bad that El never wanted to sleep ever again. They tried both counseling and medical help but nothing worked on stopping the dreams she had every night.

While Hotaru was out El was on their couch watching television when the lights in the living room began to flicker. “So have you decided yet?” a voice said to her. A voice way too familiar and one she wanted to forget. El looked around the room as the lights flickered and she could see the same shadowy figure she saw in her dream on the trip where it all began. “I don't want to be a part of whatever you have going! Why don't you leave me alone?!” “I have told you that we need your help.” the figure replied. “I know that! But you haven't even told me what you need my help with!!!” El yelled as loud as she could out of desperation. She knew this thing was the cause for her nightmares and she sorely wanted them to stop. “I haven't? Oh, silly me.” it laughed like this was a joke. “You develop special duel energy. Not like a legendary duelist, but something completely different. A war is happening. This has been going on for decades and there seem to be no end to it. You, on the other hand, only happen once.” the thing whispered. “I only happen once?” asked El. “I have said a bit too much. But we need your help. The Neo Space was the first to be threatened but thanks to the Legendary Duelist Judai Yuki they pulled it through. On the second assault it was the spirit world invaded by the Dark Signers and the Yliaster. They were stopped by the six Signers. A third time was the Astral World. It was attacked by a neighboring galaxy Valian. The Legendary Duelist Yuma Tsukumo with the help of a messenger of the Astral World and his friends defeated that threat. But since then the biggest world, the biggest galaxy, has struggled in their war. As your people dubbed this world: 'Terminal' we've suffered through two cleansing events. But now my world needs you.” as the thing explained its voice changed from a playful kid to something more deep and serious. “So am I supposed to save this 'Terminal' world?” El asked. “No. But you will be our messenger, our recruiter if you will.” “How?” “I know what's about to come but these dreams you have will not fade until my world is in peace.” El started worrying. The dream, its screams, was on the brink of driving El crazy. She could not last another month. Out of desperation “I accept.” came out of her mouth without thinking. As El suddenly realized what she had said but too late. The whole room started spinning around her, faster and faster making El losing her balance. When it stopped she was in a completely different place.

“W-what happened? Hello?” El yelled out. She looked up at the night sky. She was surrounded by a thick forest. Looking over the trees she could see a strange building and a few spires. Having no clue on where she is El started walking towards that huge building. The building had three circular shapes on top of the roof in three different colors; red, blue and yellow. “This is where you will find the first Legendary Duelist to help us.” El heard that voice again in her head. But there was no one to be seen. She walked right through the huge front door and the inside was enormous. On the floor was a logo having D and A in red inside a blue circle. Right beside the stairs was a billboard. Taking a closer look El saw that this was an overview over this building. “Central Duel Academy...” El read. She saw where the principal's office lies so she decided to ask where she is. Walking a long way she at last reached the door. Knocking twice “Come in.” was coming through the door. Opening the door slowly she saw an old, round man sitting behind a desk in a violet jacket. When the man got eye contact with El he asked her who she is. “My name is Elizabeth Eldi.” “Good to meet you. Are you here for the new employment?” he asked her. “Yes.” the voice inside her head said and so did El unwillingly. “Good, good. A bit late but better late than never.” the man smiled. “Here are your jacket and key for the teacher’s quarters and your room on the top floor, where your PDA and your duel disk lies.” El had no idea what she got herself into. “And tomorrow you need to do a trial. Beat exactly 50 students and you are accepted, remember that these kids are looking up to us so we must show them that we can duel too.” The man laughed. “Now get some sleep and I will see you tomorrow.” El did just that. Found the quarter and her own room. “What is happening?” she asked herself.

The next morning El woke up from a small alarm. She had never slept this good since forever. “I have made preparations.” the voice said. That voice… she thought she was over it. “What is happening?” El asked. “On this island you will take the role of a teacher while searching for legendary duelists to recruit them.” the voice replied. “And what happens if I refuse?” “Earth is doomed to fall.” suddenly a loud screeching echoed through El's head “W-what the hell?!” and suddenly the sound stopped just as quickly as it had started. “What was that?” she asked but got no answer. “So I'm enrolled on a duel academy as a teacher which is just an undercover until I find a legendary duelist here?” she thought to herself. She got dressed with the uniform she got and walked out. Checking her PDA she noticed she had a mail. “Congratulations! Now before we begin I will inform you of your position. As a trainee teacher for the Obelisk Blue you will start by just watch and study the other teachers to learn their ways, and remember to take notes. But for now please head to the Obelisk Blue dormitory.” Where the heck is she? A duel academy on an island? El has never heard of this before and she studied everything there was to know when she was a kid because her dream was to be enlisted in such academy. This place even looks quite primitive. The Duel Disk isn’t even impressive. Could it be she has traveled to a different dimension?
