Company Will Support All Aspects of Distribution, Gameplay, Customer Service and Marketing


Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (KDE) today announced that the company is taking over all operational and business aspects of the worldwide phenomenon, Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME™, effective immediately. KDE will take over distribution and customer support for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME™ from Upper Deck Entertainment (Carlsbad), KDE's former exclusive distributor of the trading card game. The Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME first took the Asian market by storm in 1996 and became a global sensation in 2002 as it reached the shores of North America, quickly followed by Europe and other territories. Today, the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME continues to reach new milestones as the game evolves.

I'm pretty surprised.
Upper Deck was to keep their license until 2010,
Konami cut them off early.
Seems like Konami's been trying really hard lately to unify OCG and TCG.

Kazuki Takahshi. Note everything that has Yugioh in its name also include that name. He's teh creator of the yugioh origin. And he started out by copying Magic the Gathering style. Mind I add, Konami is just a company. They own many other stuffs in Japan beside yugioh.

Kazuki Takahashi. There, now I got it. And yes, he's a rich man since he publishes his greatest work to a large & popular company.

Sad to say that Takahashi-sensei is, in fact, not a rich man.
The moment his work's been published in Weekly Jump, his Yugioh rights were pretty much forfeited to Shueisha.
Shueisha made all the money, and Takahashi sensei's only paid on a salary.
The only thing he got is a glorified name and lots of memories.

wow, I never knew.... I guess Fame would be good. Beside it makes sense now. If he was rich he would set his goal for higher rate than some children's card game lol.

i fell sorry for Kazuki Takahashi all that hard work for nothing
