| How do you protect yourself from Viruses, Trojans, Spyware etc.
I use WoT (Web of Trust) to see what people have rated and commented on websites.
I also use AVG premium edition. It contains: Anti-Virus programs Anti-Spyware programs Anti-Spam programs Link scanners E-Mail scanner Anti-Rootkit ID protection
And much, much more. It won't stop me from getting viruses but it will stop the virus from doing its job and delete it.
So what kind of programs does you use and/or recommend?

| Over the years these Virus protections have really broken my heart. I had a mini laptop which was damaged by a free AVG protection. I couldn't reboot it, and I lost that loptop. Then I switch to a huge HP 17 Inches laptop. I install the same free AVG and it gave me a white screen. The factory that I rent it from thought I dropped it (which I never did, and even so my room is carpeted). Then it took them 2 weeks to fix this issue. Finally I switch to a normal Dell GX 270. I have been running a free Norton Anti-virus which lasted me 3 months. It's the same my previous laptop had came with before I had switch the the AVG. The plan this time was every three months I had to reboot my computer so I can install the same Norton, but on the 2nd month I found out that Microsoft released a free Anti-Virus software available for all windows. That was the best thing that ever happened to the internet I thought. The money people spend on these anti-viruses... FREE...FREE I TELL YOU. FROM YOUR TRUSTED COMPANY MICROSOFT ITSELF!!! | |

| The Microsoft Security is so poorly. I tried to rely on it as well. One time I got a Virus male from a friend (which was sent by a virus) and the MS said it was deleted. Days later I noticed some program crashing constantly. Later on one of my family member (which works with computers) said I had a virus. He gave me some money to buy AVG and it found the same virus as the Microsoft Security found and blocked it. Since then I haven't had any trouble at all, ever.
AVG also have 1 year guarentee, if you're not happy, you will get your money back.

| Hum...you may be right? I did install Mozilla 4 and it was crashing constantly but I'm using the 3.18 version and it doesn't crash much. So I'm still debating on this here....
Even if it were poor, I will go back to my three months switches, with NORTON, and every thing I have on this computer is saved through a USB Sandisk called STORAGE lol. Rebooting only takes me 1 hour or less and a full 3 months guaranteed.
I'm waiting to see if I do get a virus, and what will happen if I did. But I'm really not looking forward to get a virus lol.

| I don't like Anti Virus's. They dig deep down into your computer, and are impossible to get rid of. I just use System Restore whenever I get a virus. It just takes a minute, and after that, my computer might take another minute to boot back up , and i'm good to go. | |

I should try that now that you mentioned it. I was learning a bit about system restored and had a saved point, I'm gonna make a new save points each month. You and me both Sizzle, Anti-viruses just isn't our things

but that won't stop you from getting the same virus again, again and again, would it? Well, usualy if I get a virus from a cetain site, I don't go back to it. So I don't really get the same virus a second time.

| It's funny I never browse the web that hard. My most visited places are Youtube, Facebook and here. I even takes break visiting Yugioh site news to update my own.
Me getting a virus is extremely rare. The possibility is 1% out of 99% safe lol. Even my mails are set up, as so my friends and contact list.

The only instances when I might get one, is when i'm trying to download something. And ever since Limwire shut down, I had to go to other random sites to get stuff.
