Yu-Gi-Oh! Broken Destiny: Official Sign-up

This is the official sign-up thread for Yu-Gi-Oh! Broken Destiny. Broken Destiny is a Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG-based roleplay, possibly with some connections and of the anime series. It is based in Chiba, Japan and will revolve around a prestigious school newly established for young talented duelists called the Academy for Gifted Young Duelists, or AGYD for short, and those whose parents could come up with a good enough bribe, er, "donation."

Now here comes the fun part: Making your original character (may not be from the anime series or manga series)! Just fill out the form below and post it in this thread. I will let you know if it needs work and where, or if it is approved as-is. Once approved, I will repost the form into the roster list and deck post threads. If you need to change something to your character's information or deck after it is approved, message me and I will change it, unless it's something ridiculous. Don't worry too much about your character's biography right now because there's not too much of a storyline to attach your character to, but do include what kind of person your character is, where he or she came from, what they enjoy doing, what flaws do they have, what quirks or bad habits to they have, etc.

Keep in mind that in the beginning all students of the school will be given a structure deck, so you do not have to worry about this part of the information sheet yet if you are a student. If you are a teacher or civilian of the city, then you must post your deck, but keep it reasonable. Nothing too over-the-top from the start. Remember we will have boosters available for purchase.

-Height: 180 cm

-Hair: Black and relatively short hair. He doesn't care much about it so he just keeps his bed-hair
-Clothing: He's not really at all fashion crazy but he does want to look presentable.
He wears a black long-sleeved t-shirt with a scientist's cloak over it. Plus white pants to match the cloak. Both the cloak and pants were hand-me-downs from his father.
-Accessories: Wears prescription glasses, specially designed to look like sunglasses.
He also has a necklace with a frog charm on it that Zu gave him as a sign of their friendship.

Biography: Taka was raised in a family of impressive minds. His dad was a scientist. While his mother worked for NASA. He is also an only child. During the course of his life, he wanted to follow in his parents' footsteps. So, he studied statistics and theory everyday. He eventually grew up to be a very intelligent person but due to his vast knowledge and cold attitude, he does not have many friends. One day, he sees a gruop of younger children playing duel monsters. He then laughs at the game's simplicity and tells the children to stop bothering with something so primitive. Taka then decides to try this card game and prove to these children how stupid it is. Surprisingly, it's more complex than he thought. He then researches further into this game. He abandons his dream to follow his parent's footsteps and enrolls into the duel academy in order to master this "primitive game". Now, he uses his knowledge of statistics and theory in order to predict and counter his opponent's moves. Also, Taka isn't really that good at physical activities but he's fit and can run very well(but not that far^_^) He may seem all cold and cool but he warmed up his heart to Futetzu Shira. Taka treats Futetzu like a pest but does not make it obvious that he is so happy that Zu is always there. Because Zu is his first true friend. Taka has the tendency to jot down any piece of information he finds.

Taka is a man of science. Thereforth, he can not express himself very well. When he wants
to tell Zu how happy he is to have Zu as a friend, Taka just ends up staying silent and not talking to Zu at all. Also Taka bases all of his movements on his data and statistics. So,
without his PDA, Taka can't make a single move. And sometimes he analyzes everything too
much. To the point that he forgets the real spririt of dueling. He also spaces out from time to
time because he is going over the possibilitites in every situation. He tends to bite on the
stylus of his PDA to relieve stress. Taka lacks in the artistic section. He can't draw to save
his life.

Equipment: Taka keeps a PDA handy at all times. It has a built in calculator
and a note pad. So that he can calculate for statistics and take down notes on the
opponent's strategy.
-Duel Disk: Taka's really not that fashion crazy. So he just uses the duel disk the academy gave him.

Deck: Even though Taka is intelligent beyond his years, he is still just a student. Hence, he uses a Structure Deck

-Biography: Energetic always in for almost anything fun. never afraid for a challenge has an older brother Kai who is an duel legend . And because of that others think he is one too except his friends. When dueling someone he has already dueld before he already plans the whole duel so when he draws his key card he figures out what his opponent and himself are gonna do, because of this if an oppenent succeeds in taking his key card out he already has an back up plan. He doesnt like seeing his friends sad so always try,s to cheer them up but sometime he try.s to much and they will find it irritating. when dueling and he gets a bad draw you will know he got a bad draw as he will make a comment like meh or bleh. he gest irritated by people taht say stupid. or other thigns at the bad moment.
when dueling someone and he lose,s many times from him. he gets mad and soemtimes accuse his oppenent with cheating. but after he calms down he acts like soemthing never happend. and if others try to bring it up in a conversatio or somethign he just ignores them.

Equipment: capsule,s with handy things in it like food, bike/skateboard, laptop , phone ETC. (the thing they used in DBZ) he got this from taka,s dad ask thanks for helping him makign it along with some other people. he puts it in a small case which you can make bigger by pressign the button.

Biography:
Taien was born and raised on a farm. He lives with his mother, father, and his three brothers. He is bullied at school because of his family and tends to spend the majority of his free time in the school library with his best friend, Fletcher. Him and Fletcher play duel monsters, as a tag team, against everyone and anyone in the library. They enjoy dueling so much that they decided to enroll at the duel academy. However, because Taien comes from a family with barely any money, he is not permitted to enroll at the academy. Fletcher kindly gives Taien the money, but at the consequence of throwing away his own chance to enroll. Taien made a promise with Fletcher that he would not let this chance go to waste and he would earn the money to pay Fletcher back.
He is a very enegetic and hyper-active person when around people he is comfortable with and when he is dueling, and very quiet and shy when not. He is the sort of person you can always rely on to keep a secret. He is a very hard worker because of his experience of living on a farm.
The things that make Tai tick are his love of dueling with his friend, and his family that need his support on the farm.
His flaws and quirks are that he can be irritating when dueling. He has a really bad poker face so you can always tell when he has a good hand. And he is almost always twisting his wristband around his arm.
Tai is angered by people having no respect for other people, he thinks like that because many people from his past have never given him any respect due to his background and family. What irks Tai the most are cheaters. If someone cheated in a duel or in a test he would metaphorically bite their head off.

Equipment:
Taien always carries a pen and notepad and a wallet with nothing inside but a picture of his family and friends.
-Duel Disk: Taien has never used a duel disk before as he plays using a duel mat, so he uses the academy duel disk.

Deck:
Taien left his own deck with his friend Fletcher so uses the structure deck.

- Clothing: a blue sweater (kinda like the blue dorms) and blue jeans

- Accessories: an special amulet with black abyss in it, given to him by his freind: Takaheshi Arisato. Inside the abyss is a really rare card. Zu isnt aware of it. In duels the spirit of the card, posses him. When zu "wakes up" he doesnt have any memories of dueling. (i still dont know witch card it is xD) he has a bag on his back too, with his little frog "Guio" in it. he has a picture of his mom to in it. 8he seems to speak to it, because he thinks that it will listen like his mom did in the past)

Biography: Zu lived in a Big town. His parents had allot of money, and worked very hard. He has 9 siblings, and because of that he didnt fell like he was something special. His father didn't really care about him, because of his high. The only person carrying about him is his mother. Unfortunately his mother died in a airplane crash. Ever since then he haven't been like his own self. He started to not like most things in the world. The only thing he likes, is his neclase, duel monsters and his little frog "Guio". After the airplane Accident he asked his father if he could join the duel accademy. His father didnt see why he should join it, but gave him the law anyway. Ever since then he have been on the academy. He meted Takaheshi Arisato, and because of Takaheshi Arisato awesome Knowledge he follows him everywhere, and treats him as his senpai. (althougt Takaheshi Arisato think he is a pest).

When zu is nervous he begins to strain. Because of that, most people think that hes afraid and bad at dueling. He usally hides back Takaheshi Arisato, when a person he dont know appear. He usally is anoying to most people, because he keep asking of things. Ex: where is that? What kind of food is Zu is shy, and really self crittic. Think of himself as a outsider. He have a hard time geting to know eople, because he have been teased most of his life. Altough there is one person he has a strong bond with: Takaheshi Arisato
most people thinks that he is really bad at uel monsters, but when he starts dueling, he slaughters anybody that chalanges him. He seems to have a really childish nature, but when he starts dueling he becomes serious. When he is scared or hides behind Taka, he takes his hood up. Zu only gets mad over 3 things: That someone sayes something bad about Taka, his mom and about turtles

- Biography:
After losing both parents in an accident when she was only 7 Vanessa was raised in an orphanage. A quiet and shy child Vanessa was constantly the victim of cruel pranks and painful bullying. After 3 years in the orphanage she met Renaise who was the son of the new caretakers of the orphanage. Renaise stopped her from being bullied and they quickly became fast friends. With the help of Renaise and his parents Vanessa was able to come out of her shell, growing to be a confident young woman. When Renaise was accepted into Duel Academy Vanessa worked doubly hard to make sure she could get in as well.

Vanessa is generally an outgoing and happy girl however this self confidence seems to be mainly reliant on her friend Renaise who she tends to lean on in times of hardship, perhaps a little too much. It remains to be seen if she can truly stand on her own two feet in that respect but at the moment she feels happy and to her that's all that matters.

She is a fairly good fighter having trained a little with Renaise and his mother. Especially excelling at the boxing side of things. As Renaise has remarked after being on the receiving end of one or two of her punches "her punch would make a charging Rhino think twice."

However happy-go-lucky her general demeanour is, Vanessa can be easily offended, often by quite minor innuendo or intimate-type comments. She has been known to go deep red and lash out with a slap or knock-out punch when approached with those kind of comments.Also she holds quite the candle, romantically for Renaise but is quite aware that he sees her as a sister figure so she keeps it to herself.

Random skill: Vanessa is a very good singer but never sings when anyone is around.

@shiko i need to change something in Taka's bio. namely about the "abyss"

if possible just add this:
His father also created an element called abyss called such due to it's jet black color.
It has many unknown properties but it could hold the secret to something. There are only two samples of abyss in existence and Taka's father gave him both samples for safe keeping. Taka then turns one of the samples into a charm for a necklace and gives it to Zu. This just shows how much he trusts Zu. Taka is still in possession of the other sample of abyss but it is unknown where he keeps it.

- Hair: Honey blonde, upper-neck lengthened hair. He usually wears it loosely, freely hanging down his neck, but he's been spotted wearing it in a ponytail on more than one occassion.
- Clothing: White, Silk long-sleeved shirts, and light brown pants, with sneakers, or dress shoes.
- Accessories: He always, wears a silver Rose-shaped pendant, gift of his father, on a short, golden chain. He calls this, his 'Mark of the Rose'. Some of the time, he seems to be holding a bright rose, which he slips into the space above his ear, in alot of his duels.

Biography: Suki grew up, up until he moved away, fatherless in Italy. He speaks fluent French, and often resorts, when speaking in anger or excitement, to this. He's relatively nice, and as some would say a real 'Charmer' around the ladies. As for fun, he enjoys messing with cards, and building decks, to test out against his all-time favorite, Black Rose Dragon. He's got no job, seeing as how his family [I.E. his mother] is fairly wealthy. Alot of people who've met Suki, have no actual idea.. That because he grew up with no father, Suki developed serious mental problems. He began having 'visions' and premonitions, which allowed him to speak, and communicate with Duel Spirits, most notably, his Black Rose Dragon, which he can be seen actually talking to, and reffering to, as 'Myself' when dueling.


After moving away, Suki found himself wandering around frequently, and searching for new, and rare exotic cards, to add to his deck. To that end, he wound up finding, on account of a letter from his mother his Black Rose, to which he's literally stuck with his entire life, from then until the present. As for dueling, Suki can be seen as overzealous, yet ruthless, when he actually enjoys the competition, and loves Dueling above all else. He can often, in duels, be hear randomly speaking aloud, once he summons his Black Rose, to calculate possible strategies.

Unbeknownst to even himself, Suki has begun a rather awkward habit, since his trip from Italy. During duels, in which he utilizes decks other than his own, Suki has begun to, on several occasions, result to only using the most upright tactics, and doesn't show as much joy, as cut-throat ruthlessness, when he does duel, which he has recently kept to a minimum.

Equipment: Suki doesn't really approve of Electronic devices, but nonetheless, out of necessity, keeps one. A bright red RAZR V3, his mother bought him, when he moved away.
- Duel Disk: Suki's duel disk, is a bright red modification of the GS academy disk. Along the LP counter, an insignia of a wihte rose can be seen, which ignites amongst a spray of white light, when the disk activates.

Deck(s): Suki runs his basic 'Black Rose Gale' deck. It's posted in the Deck Post forum, and revolves around his favourite, and best card, Black Rose Dragon. However, several cards in this deck allow him to take control of his opponent's monsters, like Mark of the Rose, and Enemy Controller. This deck, however, was chosen amongst several in his family, to go on exhibit, due to it's incredible collection of rare cards. Upon his entry to the Academy, Suki chooses to generally use a basic plant deck, as they are his favorite types of cards.

Aside from being a usually calm and collective person, Suki actually has alot of things that anger him. Among these, are everyday things, like stupidity, overly-childish behavior, and bad duelists. One of the main flaws that people notice about Suki, is that he can be very vain. Family:
-Youngest of 2 older brothers in a pretty much wealthy and over-protective family who tend to be elsewhere most of the time. She is the "cute" "little" "spoiled" and "quiet" one. When her family is home, she gets just about what she wants.

Past:
-Because she was almost kidnapped once when she was 3, her family is overprotective of her, not letting her out of the house. Not being able to go out often as her family was over-protective of her, she hasn't had much experience with the "real" world, and often sits at home playing by herself (or with her siblings).

-At 5, she was attacked by a dog and didn't have good experiences with animals, so she's a bit animal-phobic, which is the result of her hating beast type monster cards.

-Trying to find a talent for her own self, she finds out that duel monsters are fun. Often she'd watch tv and be read fairy tales when she was young, so she became fascinated by fairy-tales. This is why she likes angelic duel monster cards and hates "evil" fiend cards.

Because she was hardly let out, she doesn't really know how to interact with others, often shying away and finds it easier to not take on the troubled task of making friends. And without much skills, other than a home study tutor and a home tutor teaching her stringed to play instrument, she can't do much else.

Current:
-The reasons she was able to go to Duel Academy was because her two brothers used to go there, and her parents think it's generally safe since as long as she doesn't leave. And in which they trust her to (believes she's an angel). Also, they bribed/or paid a teacher/bodyguard to watch over her, and report about her daily in secret.

-She really can't do anything else such as sports, physical activity in which she would tire out really fast, even wandering around the vast duel school. Also because she was hardly let out, she is always awkward and tense, scared of the "unknown" which could be anything from "going outside at night" or "go to some activity she has never heard of".

-She has a big sweet tooth, enjoying cake, chocolate, light cream desserts. Wherever she goes, she would bring some with her.

-She sees the world in black and white (good and bad) instead of colored (multiple reasons why people do what they do, and not everything has only a good or bad side). Once someone seems to do "one bad noticable thing", she would pass it off as "he/she is evil". Right now she is unable to get out of that train of thought and part of her duels are to "right the wrong" based on fairy-tale prince/princess/witch beliefs.

-First glance at her: some who are fascinated with the angelic, doll, cutesy girl may be manipuated/"puppetted-controlled" to do something out of their own characteristics (like her parents and siblings who love and spoil her because of her angelic looks), but most people who see her/don't know her think she's a rude, anti-social little girl who isn't trying to be outgoing and doesn't want to do anything.

-Can't walk too far, tires easily ("evil bodyguard will escort/carry her on his shoulder if she is a villain appearing often")
